new happenings with the Marshalls.

I don't even know where to begin. It's been awhile since I last blogged. I thought that I would be a lot better at blogging... I'll try to get better.
So I guess I'll begin with October. Seems so long ago right now. A week or so before Halloween we took Reagan to the Willamette Fruit Company's Pumpkin Patch! We went during the middle of the week so there wasn't to many people there. It was really nice. When we first got there we went to find our pumpkin! We sat Reagan down between a few pumpkins and he was more interested in trying to eat the dirt! icky! Must be a boy thing.. After we picked out our pumpkin we ran into some of our close friends, the Rectors! We had a lot of fun getting lost and running around the corn maze with them. For Halloween Reagan was our little monkey! He of course looked adorable in his costume. I'll add a picture. (for some reason all my pictures bunch together.. I don't know how to space them out.. if anyone can tell me how to change this please let me know) The jacket of his costume has a tail on it, the hood has monkey ears and there is a lot of padding in the jacket so it poofs out! Very warm! We took Reagan to our churches carnival. He couldn't do most of the games but it was fun to walk around. There was one game that all he had to do was reach into a treasure chest and pull out a prize and then there was an elephant that would give you a piece of candy if you gave him a peanut! Reagan didn't like that one to much, a little weird for him.. Next year he'll be running from one game to the next! When we came home we walked around the neighborhood with my parents to a few of our neighbors homes. Reagan was actually asleep on my shoulder, but we took pictures of his first time trick or treating! =)
Now on to November..
It's really hard trying to think back to November.. Reagan really started showing more interest in walking. He has a little walker thing (I don't know what to call them) the thing he sits in and moves it around (if that makes sense) ha ha. Anyways. We had put him in it a few times before and he did not like it. But in the middle of November right before Thanksgiving we put him in it and he figured it out! It was like a light bulb went off. But for awhile he could only go one way, so he would go around in circles and try to get the dogs! It was really cute! He was so proud of himself! He loves walking around the house, of course with the help of one of us but I am thinking he will be walking really soon! He is a very busy boy! Keeps me on my feet!
For Thanksgiving we drove down to Ashland with my parents! Every year my great Aunt Dorothy and great Uncle Dave have everyone over to their house for Thanksgiving! I always look forward to it! It's filled with great family time, amazing food, games and most important PINOCHLE! =) I am not a huge pinochle fan (sorry) but I was born into the family so there isn't much they can do about it.. If you are coming into the family.. you better learn how to play pinochle. Scott learned and loves playing pinochle. I am now starting to play a little. just a little.
December was a very full month. We were busy! Saw a lot of family and friends, it was amazing! The beginning of the month started with a trip to Gramma & Grampa Marshalls. We had a wonderful time. It snowed! Reagan loved watching the snow. I love watching our sweet boy learn and discover new things. I wish I could remember the first time I saw white, cold stuff fall from the sky.. or hear music for the first time that gets me dancing. I love when Reagan figures something out for the first time, he gets a huge smile on his face and looks so proud of himself. You can't help but smile and be proud of him.
When we got back from Tumalo, the next day we met up with our close friends the Tyssens at a U cut Christmas tree farm! All the trees were so tall! Scott kept telling me that the trees always look smaller outside then in the house. ha ha. I guess I kept showing him really tall trees! We did get a beautiful tree! It was tall and perfect! We had so much fun the next few days decorating our tree and home. I love this time of year, celebrating the birth of our Savior with family and friends!
For Reagans first Christmas everyone came here! Reagans Omi & Gramps, Gramma & Grampa, Great Aunt Mindy & Great Uncle Pat, cousins Daniel, Nathan & Wesley, Uncle Mikie, Aunt Erica & Uncle Rob, Uncle Keith & Nicole. We had a full house and it was amazing! Before we opened gifts; Scott, Keith and Rob read the real Christmas story to us. A reminder to everyone what Christmas is really about, the birth of our Savior and what he has done and is doing for us. "She will give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus, because he will save his people from their sins.” Matthew 1:21
After everyone left to go home our house was so quiet.. We didn't like it very much. We had such a fun week spending time with family. It's a bummer we don't live closer together. I am so very thankful for the life that the Lord has blessed me with and am so grateful for my family and friends. SO many things to give thanks to the Lord for..
Right around the corner was New Years! And I got a wonderful surprise at my front door New Years Eve! Tiff, Nick, Corbin and Harrison Parks!! Scott & Nick put it all together! They were planning on surprising Tiff too but it was a little harder b/c they drove down here. It was so wonderful to spend time with them, our time together always goes by way to fast but am thankful for any time we get with them.
I can't believe we are already at the end of January. Seriously, where does the time go.. A few weekends ago we went to Kirkland to see my parents. It's always a blessing to go there and spend time with them. I so badly wish we lived closer to them. We watched the Seahawks game and it didn't turn out how we would have liked it to but we are loyal fans for sure!
But to go back to December for a minute, Reagan started crawling! That day I seriously was thinking, ok.. Reag just isn't going to crawl. He doesn't want to, he would much rather try to walk so I'm ok with him not crawling.. HA HA HA. yeah right. within an hour of me talking to Elece about it he proved me wrong. And what motivated him to crawl was his finger nail clippers! He is such a funny boy. He hates when I clip his nails b/c he wants to play with the clippers. Now that he is crawling he is all over the place and in to anything he can reach! He loves surprising the dogs by crawling towards them and grabbing their paws or pulling their tail! He showed us last week that he knows how to crawl up the stairs! He is growing up so fast!
So back to January. It's just been a pretty chill month for us. Reagan is getting more teeth in so that always brings some sleepless nights and not to many naps. We both get pretty exhausted towards the end of the day when we have days like that. And this week he just came down with a viral infection, pretty sure it's RSV, but even thru the coughs and wheezing when he cries, he is a trooper and is hanging in there. I know I have said it so much but Reag is such a blessing to us! I love him so much and thank the Lord everyday for bringing him to our life. He loves people watching, talking, singing, dancing, smiling and moving.. he is such a wiggler. Always on the move, always wants to be moving. He keeps us very busy. =) Reagan is such a happy boy! What a precious gift from our Lord.
Well, I think that brings us up to speed. Now I am working on planning Reagans 1st birthday! I can not believe that a year ago I was just a few weeks away from meeting my precious little boy. I try to think back thru out the year and it just boggles my mind that it's almost been a year since he was born! What an incredible year it has been, it's just going by faster than I would like.. Sometimes I will get really sad that Reagan is growing up so fast but I am LOVING every single stage of his life. Everyday brings something new. I feel so blessed to be able to stay home with my Reagan Roo. I could not imagine life any other way.
.blessings to all.

missing Gramps...

Missing Gramps today.. and everyday, but especially today.
This morning while I was doing my devotional I started reading thru my journal. I came upon entries that I wrote right before my Gramps passed away. If you know me well you know that I was extremely close with him. We were two peas in a pod. I had always been close with him but the Summer of 2004 was the beginning of a closer relationship with him.
I moved to Grants Pass to help him take care of my Gram. She had colon cancer and we wanted her to be comfortable so we got Hospice so she could stay home. It was the hardest 6 months of my life but the best. Being able to spend that time with two people that influenced my life so much was one of the greatest blessings. My Gram passed away December of 2004. Words cannot describe the pain my heart felt that morning and days, weeks and months to come BUT being able to be with my Gramps thru it, words cannot describe how thankful I am to have been able to spend that time with him. I lived with my Gramps til August of 2005 when I transfered to Corban College. SO.. there is some background info..
Here's a few entries from my journal...
"I asked him, "You believe in Jesus right?! He said, Yes honey. Then I started talking about memories, saying we're two peas in a pod. He laughed. Then I asked him, 'Gramps, what are you thinking about? He said, You. You are beautiful. Then he held my hand for awhile, looking at me.".....I think that is all I can do right now..
I miss him a lot but I love thinking about him and telling others about him. I wish more than anything that him and Gram could have met Reagan. Before Gramps passed away I told him, I might be pregnant Gramps and if I am we will name the baby after you. (Hoping it's a boy) =) A month later I found out I was pregnant. We gave Reagan the same middle name as him, Paul. Which my dad and brother both have as a middle name too..
I miss him so much. We talked everyday so somedays are just harder than others. Today is one of those days that I want to call him and hear his voice. He was a quiet man but spoke his mind and had a great sense of humor. So thankful for ALL the memories I have of him and Gram.
"Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted." Matthew 5:4

time seems to fly by...

time seems to fly by...
Where does the time go?! Our sweet little boy will be 8 months old next Sunday. Seems like just yesterday we were going to the hospital in anticipation of Reagan Paul coming into this world. I had no idea that our life would change so much, and in such an incredible way. He is more than we ever dreamed of. We thank the Lord everyday for Reagan and the blessing he is to us.

We started this blog about a year and a half ago, but that is all we did, start it. So now I am going to start it back up! Mostly for family and friends far away, but close by friends can follow this too =) Thought this would be a fun way to update our family and friends on life and new adventures at the Marshall home.

This picture of Reagan was taken when he was 6 months old. It was taken by Bethany Haile. She is a talented photographer in the area and we are blessed to know her. Next month she will be taking Reagan's 9 month pictures! Seriously, where has the time gone?! Just yesterday he was born, right?! Well, that is what it feels like. But I am LOVING this age. He is learning, interacting, laughing, making lots of noises and just being our sweet little boy. Thank you Lord, again, for our little bean.
